THQ was an American video game developer and publisher founded in 1989. It published The Polar Express: The Video Game.
When THQ was originally founded, it was a toy manufacturer and its name was an abbreviation for "Toy Headquarters." It eventually became exclusively a part of the video game industry in 1994.
In 2010, the company began facing financial troubles and continued to face them until they filed for Chapter 11 bankrupcy on January 23, 2013. Nordic Games acquired the THQ trademark on June 24, 2014 and renamed itself to THQ Nordic in August 2016 in order to better associate itself with the brand.
